Annual Statement
Have you submitted your Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS)?
An Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) is a legal document that must be submitted annually by the building owner to local council and Fire & Rescue NSW.
An AFSS confirms that all essential fire safety measures (such as fire detection, emergency lighting, sprinklers, hydrants, and more) have been inspected, maintained, and verified as capable of operating effectively.
Failure to submit an AFSS can result in fines, legal action, and increased liability in the event of a fire.
Who can sign off an AFSS?
Under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021 (NSW), an Accredited Fire Safety Practitioner (AFSP) is required to assess and endorse each essential fire safety measure listed on the AFSS.
At Guardian Service & Maintenance, we are proud to be recognised as an Accredited Fire Safety Practitioner, meaning we are authorised and qualified to carry out these assessments and provide official sign-off.
